(Nasdaq: MYL), today expresses its support for National HIV Testing Day, an annual campaign to encourage people of all ages to be proactive and know their HIV status. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), more than 1.1 million people in the U.S. are living with HIV and 1 in 5 does not know they are infected. There are 50,000 new cases of HIV infection every year in the U.S., according to the CDC, and over half of these infections occur in people ages 12 to 34. Recent studies have shown that HIV-positive people who are on antiretroviral medications (ARVs) can expect to live a long and healthy life with no increased risk of mortality, and are 96% less likely to transmit the virus to others.

Bresch continued, "The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services guidelines state that all people living with HIV in the U.S. are eligible for life-saving ARVs regardless of their disease progression.
